Obadiah Sherratt pottery spill vase, Staffordshire, c. 1830. Modelled as two gardeners standing either side of a large spill vase, on a grassy mound, over a rectangular base. He carries a spade, and flowers, whilst his female companion carries fruit. The spill vase painted with strawberries stands upon a plinth, with a mask head forming a fountain, spewing water over the base. Height – 19 cm, 7 1/2”. Width – 11.7 cm, 4 5/8”. Depth – 6.3 cm, 2 1/2”. Condition – Two small chips to the rectangular base – please see images for detail. No restoration. ‘Sherratt? A Natural Family of Staffordshire Figures’, M. & J.
