SOLD Staffordshire pottery Mastiff spill vase, Thomas Parr factory, c. 1855. The large recumbent dog, laid upon a grassy mound base, before a spill vase, formed as a tree trunk. Single gilt line to the base. A-Z of Staffordshire Dogs, Clive Mason Pope, Fig 1. p. 123 for a similar example. Height – 15.2 cm, 6”. Width – 12.5 cm, 5 3/8” Depth – 7 cm, 2 3/4”. Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
