Spode porcelain ‘Ornithological’ dish, c. 1820. Hand painted to the centre, with a ‘Female Goosander’, in its natural environment. The border, moulded with with sprays of flowers, in blind relief, interspersed with painted feathers, on a lilac ground, within gilt rims. Titled ‘Female Goosander’ in script to the reverse, along with the pattern number ‘1979’. Width – 29 cm, 11 3/8”. Depth – 19 cm, 7 1/3”. Condition – Minor wear to the gilding – please see images for detail.
