A rare pair of Meissen porcelain chambersticks, modelled by J.J. Kaendler, c. 1750. Modelled as peacocks before flowering bocage, and beneath flower form sconces; a further looped branch forms the handles, terminating in a flower thumb piece. The peacocks resting on a flower strewn ground, and elaborate cartouche-shaped rocaille bases, heightened with gilt. Crossed swords marks in underglaze blue to both chambersticks. Height – 15.2 cm, 6”. Width – 11.5 cm, 4 1/2”. Depth – 9.5 cm, 3 3/4”. Condition – Chip to one sconce. Chip to one flower thumb piece – please see images for detail. No restoration.
