Franz Bergman large Donkey, bronze, Vienna, c. 1900.

An exceptionally rare, large and fine Austrian cold painted bronze Donkey, Vienna, c. 1900. The donkey beautifully modelled, with his head to the right, his hair finely cast, then detailed in cold painted enamels. He stands upon a grassy mound, oval base, above a coppered foot rim. Stamped ‘B’ in an urn mark to the underside of the donkey. Length – 30.5 cm, 12”. Height – 27 cm, 10 1/8”. Depth – 10.2 cm, 4”. Condition – Typical minor wear to the enamels. No damage. No repair. The images do not truly reflect the scale of this wonderful Franz Bergman bronze. It dwarves the usual models.
