Chinese ‘Canton’ enamel zhadou or Leys jar, late 18th Century, Qianlong / Jiaqing Period. The body of the jar painted with flowering prunus, and bamboo, on a gilt ‘cracked ice’ and cobalt blue ground, beneath a continuous yellow Ruyi head motif. Similar decoration to the neck, between stiff leaves. The interior turquoise. Medium: EnamelHeight: 9.8 cm, 3 7/8”.Width: 8.8 cm, 3 3/8”.Depth: 8.8 cm, 3 3/8”.Condition: Typical stress cracks to the body. Otherwise in excellent condition.
